About the course

I know nothing about astrophotography - is this for me?

Absolutely! This is a complete beginners course that walks you through step-by-step from zero to having taken your first astrophotography image.

We assume no prior knowledge and explain everything in clear, jargon-free language.

Why star trails?

Star trails make the best first step for beginners. You will learn all you need to understand to get started in astrophotography but you are less impacted by things like: the time of year, light pollution, the moon phase.

Star trails can be captured at any time of the year, under any moon phase, and you are less required to find dark sky sites.

Therefore you can go through all the steps and end up with an amazing photo and have learned all you need to get started in astrophotography.

Do I need a certain camera or other gear for this?

You will need a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a lens and a tripod.

If you already own these, what you have will be good enough! Even the most basic entry-level camera with the kit lens it came with will work perfectly for this course.
